There’s a verdict in the lawsuit filed by 56 Lemmon Valley residents against the city of Reno over flooding. The jury is holding the city of Reno at least partially liable for the damage and flooding in and around Swan Lake. Swan Lake and nearby residents have been dealing with the problem since 2017, and the plaintiffs had argued that the city of Reno made multiple mistakes that made the situation worse, like diverting storm water into the dry lake bed with no outlet. The plaintiffs also argued that the city knew as early as 2007 that excess development could cause flooding at existing homes. The City says the flooding was a natural disaster that could not be controlled. Damages will be determined in December.
