Busy Red Flag Fire Day For Crews in Northern Nevada

Firefighters quickly got control of two brush fires in Northern Nevada. One fire broke out in Wadsworth just off I-80 about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Truckee Meadows Fire says it burned about 7.7 acres. No cause has been determined, though it is known to have started near a bridge across the Truckee River, no structures were threatened. Storey County Fire and the Bureau of Land Management assisted. Progress has also been stopped on a fire in Carson City, south of Winnie Lane, that was reported about the same time. The fire in a field grew to two-to-three acres; no cause has been determined. It started behind a home, but Carson City Fire says no buildings were threatened.
