Biela’s Latest Appeal Rejected, Court Cites Overwhelming Evidence of Guilt

The Nevada Supreme Court has rejected the latest appeal of James Biela. The man convicted of the 2008 abduction and murder of Brianna Dennison wanted a new penalty hearing, in his latest bid to get off death row. His lawyers say his previous legal counsel was ineffective and hadn’t kept jurors from hearing improper evidence about his history of animal abuse and domestic violence. The state high court ruled none of that would have affected the sentence because of the overwhelming evidence of his guilt.
