Local Fire Crews Knocked Down a Series of Wildfires Tuesday

Firefighters had a busy day Tuesday…

Reno Fire crews stopped a small brush fire near Rattlesnake Mountain and Alexander Lake Road. It burned nearly two acres just before 5am. Investigators call it “Suspicious.”

A fire that started about 1:45 yesterday afternoon was stopped in it’s tracks off Apple Blossom Drive in Sun Valley. Truckee Meadows Firefighters held it to 3-4 acres, and stopped it in about half an hour

Fire crews contained a small brush fire near Stead Boulevard on US-395. The fire was on the northbound side of the highway just north of Lemmon Drive. It started just before 3:15 p.m. and was out within minutes.

The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports that progress has been stopped on the Pinenut Fire in Walker, CA.  The fire broke out just after 4 Tuesday afternoon. The Mono County Sheriff’s Office did have a precautionary evacuation.  The 7-acre fire is believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike.
