A mechanic working for a California Department of Transportation contractor was struck by lightning Thursday in Mono County. The incident happened about 4:15 p.m. at a maintenance yard at the Sonora Junction at U.S. 395 and California 108. The mechanic was conscious as he was taken to a Reno hospital.
