One Building Destroyed, Others Damaged in Fire in Reno-Stead Airport

A pallet fire burning on Bravo Avenue near the Reno-Stead Airport is under control. The Reno Police Department described the fire as burning “countless wooden pallets” and said commercial buildings were also threatened. Fire Officials say one structure was a total loss, another structure received interior damage and another outside damage. NV Energy at one point shut down power to about 6,500 customers in the area at the request of the Reno Fire Department. The fire was first reported just after 7pm, and several agencies responded. The Reno Police Department closed several streets in the area, all have since reopened. Two firefighters did receive minor injuries and are being treated. Officials say the wind did contribute to the spread of the fire but fire crews were able to get it controlled.
