The Nevada Guard hosts a memorial “Run/ walk” Friday, Sept. 6, to remember the victims of the 2011 IHOP shooting. It will start at the Carson City IHOP on South Carson St., at 7 a.m. Dozens of Soldiers and Airmen participate in the 5-kilometer route from the restaurant to the Office of the Adjutant General on Fairview Drive. Everyone is invited, its free and non-competitive. It is untimed and no prizes will be awarded. The attack ended the lives of Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, and Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney. 67 year old Florence Donovan-Gunderson, was also killed. All three of the soldiers worked at the Office of the Adjutant General.
