The Mammovan is making two stops in Northern Nevada this week, checking women for breast cancer in their mobile unit. This Thursday they’re at the Anthem BCBS Building at 5250 South Virginia Street in Reno from 8am until 3:40pm. They’ll be in Carson City Friday at the Sierra Nevada Health Center at 3325 Research Way. Screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older, but screenings will be provided to those under 40 who have a screening referral from a provider. If you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover it, there is a $50 charge for a 3D scan. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
