Hungry Fire Grows to Over 300 Acres in Spanish Springs

The Hungry Fire has grown to 320 acres in Spanish Springs and is 5 percent contained. Voluntary evacuations have been lifted and the evacuation center is closed. There is a low threat to Pebble Creek subdivision at this time, where engines are staged, according to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. Residents should remain vigilant and prepared just in case. Crews responded to the brush fire in Spanish Springs about 1pm Monday and surrounded it with fire retardant from an air attack before sunset. It is burning on the east hills of the Hungry Valley Colony and is on tribal and Bureau of Land Management jurisdictions.
