Reno City Council Reconsidering The Daybreak Development Project

On a 4-3 vote, the Reno City Council has decided to reconsider the Daybreak Development project. Daybreak calls for 4700 homes in southeast Reno between Hidden Valley, Donner Springs and South Meadows near Veterans Parkway. After the council voted to reject the project for several reasons, including that the land is now part of the flood plain, the developer sued to overturn the denial or to recover more than $50 million in damages.  The Council has two weeks to consider the project changes and to decide whether to reverse their decision.Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, Councilwoman Naomi Duerr and Councilwoman Jenny Brekhus were the three “no” votes against the decision.
