Nevada’s two senators say the nomination of former Nevada Solicitor General Lawrence Van Dyke for the 9th Circuit Court, ignores the opinion of the state and pushes an extreme judicial agenda. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen also point out it’s customary to consult a state’s senators before making judicial nominations. They suggest Van Dyke, who worked in Adam Laxalt’s Attorney Generals Office, is too caught up in partisan culture wars. Laxalt says Van Dyke has impeccable legal credentials, and is well versed in the issues that affect the western states.
