A man is under arrest for felony assault on a peace officer northeast of Stampede Reservoir. Sierra County Sheriffs were first on the scene Friday Night responding to a 911 call about a man who had been stranded in the area for several weeks. Upon arrival at the scene, a deputy was shot at. Backups from US Forest Service Law Enforcement, CHP, Sheriffs and eventually SWAT helped to secure the scene. The stranded man, David Cash was apprehended at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Officials say Cash appeared to be suffering from mental health issues. None of the responders were hurt in the incident.
