A new charter school opens today in the Truckee Meadows. Mater Academy of Northern Nevada welcome(d) their first kindergarten through 8th grade students this morning next door to the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Donald W. Reynolds facility at 2680 East 9th Street in Reno. Mater Academy specializes in students with limited english proficiency, disabilities, access, neglect, or delinquency. They’re also partnered with the Boys & Girls Club, so students can attend before-and-after-school programs, receive free meals and participate in tutoring, leadership and sports programs at the same facility as their school.
