Scammers Are Claiming to be Representatives of NV Energy

They say you’re late on your power bill, and the recording tells you your power will be shut off if you don’t talk to a live operator, and pay a fee within 30 minutes. If your first reaction is “this is a scam,” good for you. It is a scam, unfortunately the people trying to pull this seem to be armed with lots of information about you and your account. They tried this on our favorite local tech expert Ira Victor, who says they’re very convincing, so beware. he reported it to NV Energy

NV Energy does not call you to collect on overdue power bills and certainly does not threaten to cut off power within 30 minutes. If you owe, they’ll contact you by U.S. Mail.
