City of Reno Considering Land Sale to Fund New Police Station

The city of Reno is considering selling land at a discount to fund a new police station. The Reno Gazette Journal reports that the Reno City Council unanimously approved the sale of land on Chism St for $200-thousand dollars less than appraised value. The council also approved entering into negotiations to sell land on Washington St. Proceeds from both land transactions are earmarked to help fund the city’s new $22-million dollar police headquarters project. In July, the city purchased the old RGJ building on Kuenzli St in anticipation of remodeling the building to house the new police headquarters.
