UNR, UNLV Cancelling “Study Abroad” Programs Over Coronavirus

Coronavirus concerns have University of Nevada Reno and UNLV has joined a number of universities in canceling “study abroad” programs amid fears over the deadly virus that originated in China. UNLV has two dozen university students in Italy and three students in South Korea, expected to return to the United States. The university’s programs in China, where the virus originated, have been halted, and programs in South Korea and Italy have also been canceled for the spring semester. Eleven UNLV students studying in China returned or relocated to other study abroad locations in late January, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The South Korea program had already been suspended, so there are no UNLV students studying there. The university is working to get students studying in Italy back to the United States.
