Washoe County has issued a Declaration of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. County Commission Chair, Bob Lucey calls the declaration, another tool that enables us to best serve our citizens. He adds, “This is a quickly moving situation and we are responding accordingly.” The county says the declaration will increase Washoe County’s accessibility to resources and allow for flexibility with staffing, all with the goal of mitigating the spread of COVID-19. County officials reminded the community not to panic, but rather be prepared, be smart, be clean and be vigilant. Lucey also asked residents to reach out to neighbors, vulnerable friends and family, and with your faith communities, to ensure we are looking out for those in our community who need our help most.
