Governor Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday that he has instructed the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to backdate all unemployment claims to March 13th. The governor updated the state on unemployment insurance last night in an address to Nevadans, saying 300,000 Nevadans have filed for unemployment benefits in the last 30 days.
Governor Sisolak said Nevadans will be paid retroactively from the time their application was submitted. He also said that for those Nevadans who have been unable to file a claim due to the unprecedented volume will not lose any benefits as a result of the overwhelming surge in demand. He said volume continues to impact the system, but benefit payments will not be reduced because of application issues.
