One Man Arrested After High Speed Chase

A high-speed chase ended early Monday morning in Churchill County without injuries. Just after 4:30am Monday, the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a high-speed vehicle chase that started in Mineral County. A white Toyota pick-up truck driven by 40-year-old Jeffery Bergquist was reported stolen out of California. The Walker River Tribal Police allegedly deployed a spike strip, and were successful in deflating one tire. The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and Fallon Police Department set up more spike strips and deflated two more of Bergquist’s tires. The chase continued on three flat tires until Bergquist crashed the truck into a concrete barrier and was taken into custody. He has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Failure to Yield, and Terroristic Threats after yelling that he had a bomb.
