Public Comment Focused on Policing at The Reno City Council Meeting

The street protests were about the death of George Floyd, but Reno Police and Sparks Police found themselves on the wrong side of public comment at the Reno City Council Meeting. Speakers called for independent review boards to look into the use of force. Some speakers urged the council to direct funds away from police, and to efforts that can help people who are struggling. Police were criticized for using tear gas on protestors, given the Covid 19 pandemic. Council members and the Mayor were also urged to lead on the issue of police brutality, and to join peaceful protests.
