Officials Report 30% Containment of The Rose Fire

Officials from the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest report that the Rose Fire is now 30% contained and has been mapped at 1.2 acres. The fire was first reported Sunday near Winters Creek in a heavily forested area. Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service and North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District crews have all been on scene, aided by fire fighting aircraft. Mount Rose Highway was closed in both directions, but has since reopened. No structures are threatened.
