Starting today, the Regional Transportation Commission will close the Virginia Street bridge over Interstate 80 west of Walgreen’s for about five weeks. The closure is part of the $87 million dollar Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension Project, which will extend the RAPID Line from Midtown to the University. Traffic will be detoured to the Center Street and Sierra Street bridges. The midtown segment of the project is scheduled to wrap up in August, and the university portion is expected to be finished this fall.
