The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center is reporting crews are responding to a brush fire near Silver Springs in the Churchill Buttes area on Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the fire has grown to 150 acres. Crews are also still working to contain the 7 acre Cemetery Fire in Hungry Valley. Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue says the fire is mostly on tribal or federal land. Officials said the fires are believed to be lightning-sparked.
The Clove Fire in the area of Calle de la Plata and La Posada Drive was stopped at 19 acres, and the Voyage Fire about a mile east of Red Hawk Golf course is contained. Five fires 5-8 miles southwest of Wellington are all either contained or under control. The Red Fire on Peavine has also been contained. No estimations yet on total acreage.
