No School Today For Washoe County Students Due to Dense Smoke

Air quality has been uncomfortable, and unhealthy across northern Nevada prompting a Dense Smoke Advisory and an alert from the Washoe County School District. The smoke advisory is in effect through this (Thurs) morning for the Greater Reno-Carson-Sparks-Minden areas and the Tahoe Basin. The smoke is coming from several fires burning in Northern and Central California. The deteriorating air quality prompted an alert from the Washoe County School District that all students would remain inside much of Wednesday, and that all district buildings would close after early release and there would be no after-school programs.  They’re cancelling classes Thursday.
