Fire restrictions are being loosened today to allow campfires in designated campgrounds within Nevada. The BLM, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and Nevada Division of Forestry jointly announced the change, while noting that Nevada has had 709 fires burning 249,700 acres. Most were human-caused. The restrictions on public lands still include: fires outside an established fire ring of any kind, smoking except in an enclosed vehicle, welding except by permit, and using explosives, fireworks, tracer rounds and other incendiary devices.
