The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned an order that backed the Governor’s health related limits on gatherings in Nevada’s churches. Gov. Steve Sisolak set a limit of 50 people or 50% of the fire code occupancy, whichever was fewer. The restrictions were upheld by a lower court judge, earlier in the year. The churches, Calvery Church in Dayton and Las Vegas appealed , saying “gathering its members in one building is central to expression of faith in Jesus Christ.”
Recently the U.S. Supreme Court decided against pandemic restrictions on churches in New York. The Governor’s response is to remind church leaders that they are role models, and ask that they continue to do all they can to protect the faithful.
