Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and Washoe Commission Chair Bob Lucey are teaming up in the fight against climate change. The governor and city leaders unveiled a new statewide partnership with sustainability company Ledger8760 that aims to track carbon emissions against emission reduction targets, outlined in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Gov. Sisolak spoke from Reno Fire Department – Station 11 and said the State of Nevada will become the first state to track carbon emissions in real time to reduce our carbon footprint. He says the pilot project is a first step for Nevada as we continue to see record-breaking temperatures, wildfires, and drought. Mayor Schieve called the partnership a game-changer for Reno and eventually other cities in terms of energy efficiency and reduction efforts.
