Mandatory Evacuations in Place Around The Tamarack Fire

The Tamarack Fire has burned over 18,000 acres with no containment. A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 11 a.m. today for the area. Lightning and erratic winds could accompany thunderstorms moving into the area. There are 571 fire personnel reported working on the fire. California 89 remains closed at its intersection with California 4. The following areas are under mandatory evacuations: Grover Hot Springs, Shay Creek, Marklee-Village, Markleeville, Carson River Resort, -Wolf Creek Campground, Silver Creek Campground, Sierra Pines, Upper and Lower Manzanita, Crystal Springs, Alpine Village, and Diamond Valley Road. At least two buildings have been destroyed by the fire.
