Wilber Martinez Guzman will get two murder trials, one in Washoe County for the 2019 murders of Gerald and Sharon David, and one in Douglas County for the killings of Connie Koontz and Sophia Renken. The State Supreme Court will not allow the trials to be combined and held in Washoe County. Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks says Guzman will get two trials, but he will not escape justice. The killings happened as part of robberies because Martinez Guzman needed money to buy drugs. He has confessed to the four murders, but has pleaded not guilty.
