Two More Life Sentences for Convicted Murderer

Convicted murderer Wilber Martinez Guzman has been sentenced to two more life terms without the possibility of parole for the January 2019 deaths of Gardnerville residents Connie Koontz and Sophia Renken. The sentencing followed a day-long hearing. Guzman was sentenced to similar terms Monday in Washoe District Court in Reno for the murders of Jerry and Sherri David at their south Reno home during the same crime spree. Martinez Guzman agreed to plead guilty to the killings in exchange for the prosecution dropping their pursuit of the death penalty. He is scheduled to appear in Carson City today on stolen property charges.
