Police have apprehended an inmate who escaped from an Indian Springs correctional center. Porfirio Duarte-Herrera was taken into custody last night about 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Eastern Avenue, about 4 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. He was convicted in 2010 of killing a hot dog stand vendor using a motion-activated bomb in a coffee cup atop a car parked at the Luxor hotel-casino. The man was dating Herrera’s ex-girlfriend.
