The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Silver Springs man last night after a standoff. 29-year-old Gordon Alexander Bayne, was booked on charges that included assault with a deadly weapon, firing a gun where others may be endangered and obstructing a peace officer. Authorities were notified just before 7pm about a man walking along the Union Pacific railroad tracks in Fernley and firing a gun towards homes. When deputies arrived they saw Bayne firing. A shelter-in-place order was issued. Bayne then ran into a home on Ramsay Street. After a short standoff, Bayne surrendered peacefully.
