Sparks-based Sierra Nevada Corporation has been awarded a 13-billion-dollar defense contract from the U.S. Air Force. The company will build a replacement for the E-4B, also known as the ‘Doomsday Plane.’ The Air Force currently has four aging E-4B planes. The contract for Sierra Nevada Corporation to build a new Survivable Airborne Operations Center runs through mid-2036.
