(Reno, NV) — A bear that was captured at an apartment complex in south Reno is expected to be released into the mountains in west Reno today. Officials with the Nevada Department of Wildlife captured the bear on Tuesday, after recently reporting an increase in bear activity in residential areas. The bear, believed to be a ten to 12-year-old female, was found resting in a breezeway at the Alexander Apartments. Biologists believe the bear followed a creek into the neighborhood and was drawn to the apartment complex by unsecured garbage. She had no prior history of wandering into neighborhoods.
