City of Reno Considering 16-Million Dollars in Budget Cuts

(Reno, NV) — The city of Reno is considering 16-million dollars in cuts for the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget. Potential cuts were discussed on Monday, after the Reno City Council heard a presentation on the proposed budget. Officials are currently calling for freezing 20 city positions, eliminating money for the contingency and capital funds and reducing funding for fleet replacement. A 90-day staffing hiatus on non-mandated boards and commissions is also being considered.
