(Reno, NV) — Washoe County and state officials are revealing the likely cause of the destructive Davis Fire. Investigators believe it was caused by a campfire or warming fire that was improperly extinguished. The fire started last September in Davis Creek Regional Park, just south of Reno. In about two-and-a-half weeks, it burned 58-hundred acres of land and destroyed 13 homes and other structures, including a church. The point of origin was in a day-use area that does not allow campfires under Washoe County Parks regulations.
