(Truckee, CA) — The Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District will remain part of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association for at least another year. On Wednesday, the Tahoe Truckee Unified School Board voted to delay its planned departure from the NIAA by one year. The district is now planning to leave during the 2026-2027 school year. The board considered possible legal risks with remaining in the NIAA for another year, along with allowing more time to address the logistics of the move. The move was prompted by a policy change within the NIAA regarding student-athlete eligibility based solely on biological sex. That conflicts with California’s law protecting gender identity.
