Gov. Lombardo Approves Fuel, Las Vegas Police Officer Tax Extension Efforts

(Carson City, NV) — Governor Joe Lombardo has signed three tax bills into law. Two of the bills Lombardo signed into law on Thursday authorize local governments to extend existing taxes. One keeps revenue sources in place for police officers’ salaries in Clark County. It renews the two-tenths of a percent property tax that had been scheduled to expire in 2027. The tax revenue pays for the salaries of more than 800 Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers. Another tax bill is for road infrastructure projects in Clark County. A third bill signed by the governor continues fuel revenue indexing for the next ten years. That process adjusts the fuel tax to keep transportation funding up to date with rising materials and labor costs.
