NTSB Releases Report on Deadly Care Flight Crash

(Reno, NV) — The NTSB’s final report on a deadly Care Flight crash near Stagecoach is now available. The crash happened in February of 2023, during a non-emergency transport of a patient from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to Salt Lake City International Airport. The pilot, flight paramedic, flight nurse and two passengers died. The report, released Wednesday, cites “the pilot’s loss of control due to spatial disorientation while operating in night instrument meteorological conditions, which resulted in an in-flight breakup.” The NTSB also says the disengagement of the autopilot, for undetermined reasons, contributed to the crash. And, it cites the pilot having an insufficient flight risk assessment process and a lack of organizational oversight.
