State Must Fund Services For WCSD Student With Disabilities

(Reno, NV) — The state of Nevada must fund services for a Washoe County School District student with disabilities. A district court made the ruling on Monday. It sided with the WCSD over the Nevada Department of Education. The district successfully argued that the NDE is legally obligated to provide for the student’s unique needs. The WCSD filed a lawsuit related to the case in late April, arguing the NDE refused to comply with Nevada law. The state is now mandated to fund residential placement for the student.
