(Carson City, NV) — A bill Governor Joe Lombardo just signed will make it easier for tribes to manage their own polling locations for state and federal elections on reservations. The law was created in response to barriers Tribal members faced when trying to vote, such as when members of the Walker River Paiute Tribe had to walk more than 60 miles to cast a ballot. Officials say the law is especially important because an increasing number of tribal members want to vote in elections so their voices are heard.
