Reno City Council Moving Forward With New Catalytic Converter Law

Reno City Council is moving forward with a plan to make it harder to sell a stolen catalytic converter. Thefts leave the car owner facing thousands in replacement costs. The city is working on an ordinance making it illegal to sell or possess a catalytic converter without extensive documentation about where it came from, who removed it, and from what vehicle it was taken, including the “Vin number” on the vehicle. Converters are stolen to recover a tiny amount of a very expensive metal, Rhodium.
