COVID Cases Trending Down in Washoe County

Washoe County Health District officer Kevin Dick, says for the first time this year, the county is reporting double digit cases as opposed to triple digits, and that COVID cases are on a downward trend. But Dick says based on CDC criteria, including a positivity rate of 27%, our area remains high for COVID-19 transmission. 64.5% of Washoe County residents 5 and older are fully vaccinated. He says booster shots for those who are eligible will offer even more protection against COVID-19. People can often get same-day testing at the Livestock Events Center if they schedule an appointment by 6 a.m. They can also, in most cases, get a result within 24 hours.
