Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Mourns Passing of Longtime Chairman

(Reno, NV) — The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony has announced the death of its leader. Chairman Arlan Melendez died on Tuesday at the age of 78. He had been the colony’s longest-serving Tribal Chairman, having served the colony for 36 years, 32 of which as its chairman. He also had served on national committees, including the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
