City of Reno to Lay Off 8 Employees

(Reno, NV) — The city of Reno is laying off eight employees. The city is citing financial difficulties, which it blames on slowing revenue growth at the state and local levels. It also pins it on rising operating costs. Reno officials say they will not be identifying any specific positions impacted by the layoffs, though none of them are in public safety-related roles. On July 23rd, the Reno City Council will vote on a resolution that would authorize the city manager to make the layoffs formal. If that is approved, the affected employees will leave on September 4th.
