For the 22 men and women who have spent the last several months preparing to become our region’s newest peace officers, this is a week for celebration. After completing more than 700 hours of intensive training they are about to graduate from the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy. And today they maintain another tradition with the Academy Pride Run. It’s a six-mile run from the Regional Public Safety Training Center to the James D. Hoff Peace Officer’s Memorial. The graduating class includes 12 from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, six from the Reno Police Department, two from the Sparks Police Department and two from the University of Nevada, Reno Police Department.
