A 39 year old woman died when a vehicle she was in crashed into an irrigation canal after a high-speed chase early Thursday. It happened shortly after midnight when a Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a speeding motorist on Main Street in Fernley. Deputies say the vehicle’s driver sped away, but then crashed into the Canal. Deputies say Patricia Brandy Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene after rescue crews were able to extract her from the vehicle. The driver and another passenger made it out alive and were treated for their injuries. The driver was arrested.
