USL Reno president Eric Edelstein has released the “Name the Team” contest winner: Reno 1868 Football Club is the official name. There was a close race among the top three names – Reno 1868, Reno FC and Reno United-  but Reno 1868 ultimately ran away in the final poll, making Reno 1868 the only active American soccer team to use the city founding year in its official team name. The team begins play in 2017.
