Heller Pushing Rural Broadband

Senator Dean Heller successfully included two amendments to the “Making Opportunities for Broadband Investment and Limiting Excessive and Needless Obstacles to Wireless Act” at the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation.  One of the amendments puts a 270 day “Shot Clock” on broadband application decisions.  Heller says it’s taken years to get approval for fiber optic lines to seven rural Nevada hospitals, mostly because of the time it took to get approval from the BLM and Bureau of Indian Affairs. Heller’s other amendment streamlines facility location applications.
