A report by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ranks Washoe County fifth overall in this years Nevada County Health Rankings. Washoe County placed third healthiest in the state for health factors and fifth healthiest for health outcomes. The rankings measure smoking, obesity, food availability, physical activity, drinking, sexually transmitted diseases, and teen births. Health Outcomes measure premature deaths, physical and mental health, and low birth weights. Washoe County District Health Officer Kevin Dick says they’re working to continue to improve and build a culture of health for Washoe County.
